HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – Arraignments were held Monday for a man and woman who have been charged in connection with the murder of Jeremy Alan Barron.
Authorities say Barron was shot to death somewhere in Hillsdale County February 8, 2017. His body was placed in a field off of Dimmers Road in Camden Township before it was discovered by some Amish children riding their horses April 2, 2017.
The male suspect is identified as 40-year-old Jay Scott Clark of Bryan, Ohio. Clark has been charged with Homicide-Open Murder, Carrying Away/Disposing of Corpse, Felon in Possession of Firearm, Felony Firearm, Concealing the death of an individual, Possession of Methamphetamine 2nd Offense and carrying a concealed weapon.
Clark was ordered held without bond Monday.
The female suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Ashley Diane Hoath of Hillsdale. She has been charged with Accessory After The Fact to Homicide-Open Murder and Lying to the Police in a Criminal Investigation.
Her bond was set at $100,000.
Authorities say the two suspects and Barron knew each other but they have not released a motive for the killing.
Barron did not get a chance to prove his innocence in court after a charge of criminal sexual conduct was filed against him. There was a warrant for his arrest after he missed a court hearing February 17, 2017, which as it turns out was nine days after he was killed.
