COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority Board continued to hear ideas on how to attract businesses downtown from a retired businessman Wednesday morning.
Retired Alliance Foods Group Chair and C.E.O. Bob Harris made a presentation in February which he described as a road map for reinventing downtown.
He went into more detail Wednesday as he outlined what the city could look like in the future.
Main street momentum builders included a “Growth Team Headquarters” at 176 West Chicago, which would include the Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce, the Branch County Economic Growth Alliance and the D.D.A..
In addition, the former Taylor’s Stationers building could be used as a restaurant, and Harris said an unnamed regional franchise operator was looking to bring a new format to Michigan.
Harris also presented ideas for Monroe Street, Pearl Street, Marshall Street and the Fairfield Plaza.
Harris suggested the whole Fairfield Plaza area should have a streetscape and be landscaped.
Another idea was turning the vacant Auto Lab Building on Pearl Street into a location for pop up retailing shops.
Board President Brad Rockey said it’s imperative the D.D.A. take a serious look at the information Harris provided.
