COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school golf, Coldwater hosted 20 teams on Thursday in the annual Coldwater Cardinal Invitational and came in fifth place overall for the “Red” squad while the Coldwater “White” squad came in 17th place for the tournament.
Coldwater had a team score of 342. They were led by Cam Ruge who finished in a tie for seventh place as an individual shooting a score of 78. Alec Keplinger fired an 86 while Kyle Herman carded an 88. Tanner Bowers and Cameron Bopp both had rounds of 89.
Portage Central’s Will Anderson was the medalist with a 70.
Coldwater travels to the Thornapple-Creek Golf Course on Saturday to pay in the Kalamazoo Christian Invitational.

Union City’s boys were seventh while the girls finished fifth at the Marshall Invitational on Thursday. The Chargers had three victories in the girls field events. Rachel Wing finished first in the shot put and discus while Lillian Bambacht won the high jump. In addition, Kristeena Wright was second in the discus. Gavin Hooker was second in the boys 400 for the Chargers while Chad Bruce was third in the 110 hurdles and Brandon Cross was second in the discus.
