COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The 30th Annual Coldwater Swap Meet and Car Show is just a month away at the Branch County Fairgrounds. The rain or shine free event Saturday and Sunday May 13 and May 14 has attracted over 1,600 show cars and motorcycles as well as over 300 vendors in recent years. The big weekend also includes entertainment in downtown Coldwater Friday night through Saturday night.
Howard Taylor is one of the original organizers of the car show and its success relies on hundreds of volunteers. Taylor on Tuesday told the Coldwater Noon Rotary Club that he and the others who started up the show and are still active in managing the event figure it’s about time to retire from their duties.
Taylor said it’s an event that brings money to the community and has been profitable over the last 6 years, raising over nearly $125,000 that is donated to charitable service organizations in the county.
Taylor stressed he was not speaking on behalf of the Swap Meet Car Show Board of Directors, but believes the community needs to know where the event stands and what’s necessary to allow it to survive in future years.
