SHERWOOD, MI (WTVB)- A Union City man was injured Monday morning in an accident on Athens Road near Mendon Road in Sherwood Township.
The Branch County Sheriffs Department says 62-year-old Delbert Davis was pinned in the wreckage. Union City and Sherwood Fire Departments used Jaws of Life to free Davis from the wreckage. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
An investigation by the Sheriffs Department indicated Davis was on his way to Doctor’s appointment and had medicated himself prior to the medical appointment as directed. But he was not to be operating a vehicle while under influence of prescribed medication, thus resulting in his vehicle leaving the road and striking a tree stump.
After Davis had been freed of the wreckage he was flown from the accident scene by Air Care to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Branch County Sheriff Deputies were assisted by 911 Central dispatches, Life Care Ambulance, Air Care, Sherwood Fire Department, Union City Fire Department Athens Tribal Police and Union City Police.
