COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There will be no need for an August Primary and there will be just two contested races for seats on the Coldwater City Council in the November general election.
The filing deadline for candidates at the Branch County Clerks office expired Tuesday afternoon.
Both of the contested races will be for fourth ward seats on the City Council. Incumbent Randall Hazelbaker will be challenged by Alexia Rish, while Scott Houtz will face Dan Corwin for a seat on the Council which expires in November 2019.
Houtz was appointed last June to fill out the remainder of the term of former Fourth Ward Councilperson Heather Peet, who resigned after she accepted a job out of town.
Running unopposed are Mayor Tom Kramer, along with City Council members Travis Machan from the first ward, Jim Knaack from the second ward and Michael Beckwith from the third ward.
