QUINCY MI (WTVB) -Quincy firefighters spent Wednesday evening training on what to do during a traffic accident which involved a fire.
Multiple possible scenarios were presented as the drill was done in real time without the ‘responding crews’ knowing what the training was going to be. Crews were first dispatched to a two car accident with a person trapped.
As they responded, the crews were told that a vehicle was possibly on fire. Crews arrived to find a two car collision with one of the vehicles on fire. They also confirmed an entrapment during the drill in the second vehicle.
As they removed the patient, they found a second patient pinned under the dashboard. In addition to dealing with the patients and the vehicle fire, crews also had to set up a landing zone for the medical helicopter.
Quincy fire officials say this is something they hope they will never respond to but they will be ready if the time comes.
