COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Area Garden Club packaged and delivered over 500 white pine trees Friday, April 28 in honor of Arbor Day. The trees went to all third graders in Branch County.
The white pine is Michigan’s state tree. This is the fifteenth year the organization has distributed trees for a total of well over 8500 trees.
Members of the Garden Club say it is unknown how many trees are still growing, but their ultimate goal is to plant a seed in the children’s mind about growing trees.
The children’s classrooms also received books last week about trees. The book this year was “Why Do Leaves Change Colors”.
