OTSEGO, MI (WTVB) – In high school girls softball, Coldwater finished second at the eight team Otsego Tournament Saturday. They defeated Plainwell 11-5 and Gobles 20-12 before losing to the host team in the finals 14-5.
Jamie Wellet had four hits including a home run while Darlene Horn was the winning pitcher against Plainwell. Horn also got the win against Gobles as she and Drue Mullin both had three hits. Coldwater is now 11-7 for the season.
Union City’s girls softball team won the Colon Darmofal Tournament title Saturday. They defeated Mendon 12-2, North Adams-Jerome 10-9 and then defeated Marcellus in the finals 5-1.
Haley Rivard was the winning pitcher in the finals while Autumn Carpenter and Rae Ann Sanders both drove in two runs. Sanders and Emma Elgan both had two hits. Alison Adams was the winning pitcher against North Adams-Jerome with Rivard getting the save. Skyler Herman and Breanna Johnson both homered for the Chargers.
Rivard was the winning pitcher and helped her own cause with four hits and four RBI’s in the victory over Mendon.
In high school baseball, Union City captured the Colon Darmofal Tournament championship for a third straight year Saturday as they defeated Colon 7-2 and Mendon 8-6. Blade Gordon and Josh Watson were the winning pitchers as the Chargers improved to 6-12.
