COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s not the forecast you want to hear right now, especially after five straight days of rain.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio from late Wednesday night until Friday evening. The watch includes Branch, Hillsdale, St. Joseph and Steuben Counties.
Forecasters say heavy rain is expected to develop over the area Wednesday night and persist through Friday.
Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible. This will cause rivers to rise with some rivers possibly reaching moderate or major flood stages.
Lowland areas that have yet to drain from the past heavy rainfall will likely undergo more widespread flooding.
