WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) – Republican Seventh District Congressman Tim Walberg has been a long time critic of Obamacare so he was in the majority on Thursday when the U.S. House voted 217-213 to pass a revised Republican healthcare bill.
The bill aims to repeal and replace Obamacare which Walberg and other Republicans call a failure.
Walberg said in a statement released by his office after the vote that “Obamacare is on the brink of collapse and has failed to live up to its many promises. Families and small businesses are facing skyrocketing premiums and insurers are dropping out of the marketplaces leaving behind fewer options. We told our constituents we would fix the mess Obamacare created, and this legislation is an important step towards undoing the damage and providing relief.”
Democrats say the GOP bill will put the healthcare of millions of Americans at risk. In a video on Twitter, Michigan Democratic Senator Gary Peters says 20-million Americans will lose their coverage under the plan and called on his Senate colleagues to fix what the House has given them.
