CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) – A Centreville man was killed Saturday night when his motorcycle struck a deer in St. Joseph County.
Michigan State Police say 42-year-old Larry Duwayne Smith was pronounced dead at Borgess Hospital several hours after his motorcycle struck the deer at about 8:20 p.m. after it ran across both lanes of M-86 near M-66.
Smith was flown from the scene by the Air Care helicopter.
A passenger, 43-year-old Aubrey Lynn Smith, was treated at the scene and taken to a nearby hospital.
Troopers say neither the driver or the passenger were wearing their helmets.
The crash is still under investigation. Troopers were assisted on scene by the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, Colon Police and Fire, Life Care Ambulance and Air Care.
