UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The boil water advisory has been lifted for the Village of Union City. Village officials late Thursday said the water is safe for drinking and normal use.
Due to a 10 minute loss of water pressure Wednesday afternoon, the entire Village of Union City was under a boil water notice.
Village officials issued the order in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality WEdnesday, and said it was being done out of an abundance of caution.
Union City Department of Public Works officials said water pressure was lost at about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday due to a failure of a control panel at one of the Village’s well houses. This was a new control panel that had been replaced after an accident took out wires April 20 at Park and High Streets. That accident caused a power disruption that destroyed the old control panel.
