WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) – The name of the late Branch County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Winter was added to the National Peace Officers Memorial Wall during a ceremony on Saturday in Washington, D.C..
Winter was one of seven fallen officers from Michigan who were honored.
Also honored were Detroit Police Officers Myron Jarrett, Ken Steil and Kevin Miller, Wayne State University’s Collin Rose along with Joseph Zangaro and Ronald Kienzie from Berrien County.
Winter’s family was escorted by Branch County Sheriff John Pollack during the ceremony.
Winter died almost a year ago when he was thrown from his horse while providing security during Quincy Memorial Day Parade.
His name was added to the Michigan Fallen Hero’s Memorial in Pontiac September 11, 2016.
