QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Unlike previous meetings during the last couple of weeks, Monday’s Quincy Board of Education meeting was calm and fairly routine.
Only one audience member made a comment about former teacher Jason Ferrell, whose alleged improper conduct with a student has led to a stormy controversy in the Quincy community.
The controversy led to the board placing Superintendent Craig Artist and high school principal David Spalding on paid administrative leave pending an internal review of the matter involving Ferrell.
There was a large crowd on hand in the Jennings Elementary School commons area but not all of the seats were filled.
The board approved the contract with the Quincy Education Association for the 2017-2018 school year and they passed a resolution which supports the proposed Branch Intermediate School District general fund budget.
