PRESQUE ISLE COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A man who murdered Heather Young from the Sherwood/Athens area last July described in graphic detail in a Presque Isle County courtroom Monday how he killed her and what he did to the corpse.
55-year-old Brenton Walker agreed to plead guilty to second degree murder and felony firearms.
MLive reported on its website that in exchange for the plea, four charges were dropped, including a first degree murder count.
Walker calmly said in court he shot Young twice, burned her body in a fire pit and then cut her up with a chainsaw.
Those involved in the case say it was one of the most gruesome crimes they have ever dealt with.
Young was a Coldwater native. She also used to live in Bronson.
She was visiting the area, reportedly had a fight with a boyfriend, and stopped at the Cabin Bar and Grill near Onaway. That’s where she was last seen leaving with Walker. What was left of her body was found on the property of Walker’s brother.
Brenton Walker is looking at life behind bars. Sentencing is scheduled for June 12th.
