QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence today is holding a pair of information sessions for Quincy students. The meetings are happening in the aftermath of charges being filed this month against a former Quincy High School teacher.
Jason Ferrell is accused of the alleged assault of a 15-year old Quincy female student and is suspected of criminal sexual conduct. Ferrell remains behind bars pending his next court appearance after being arraigned on multiple counts, including two of first degree CSC.
The BCCADV information sessions for the students are at the Quincy Event Center on West Chicago Street from 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The Coalition says the sessions are for students who would like more information on sexual assault while stressing “this doesn’t just happen elsewhere! It happens in our community!”. The sessions are free and confidential.
According to the Coalition, sexual assault topics to be covered include the signs, how to be an upstander, the preadator process and resources for support. There will be trained professionals on site with a licensed counselor available.
