HASTINGS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater girls varsity soccer team closed out their Interstate 8 Conference regular season with a 4-0 loss at Hastings Wednesday night.
The Saxons scored their first two goals in the first five minutes of the game, then added two more late in the second half for the win. Nadia Kiersey made 5 saves in goal as Hastings outshot Coldwater 11-8.
The Lady Cards are now 0-5-3 in the Interstate 8 and 3-8-3 overall. They play non-conference action at Gull Lake Friday, before starting I-8 tournament play next week.
The Coldwater JV team fell at Hastings 3-1. Audrey Hall had the lone goal, assisted by Emily Fagen.
Katie Rathbun scored four goals as Quincy defeated Michigan Center 8-0 for their 10th win of the season. Payton Hines added two goals. Emily Hollenbaugh and Cailyn Cook also scored for the Orioles while Ally Parrish had three assists. Quincy’s record is 10-5-1.
—Boys Golf—
In the last Jamboree of the season. Coldwater came in second place at the Cascades Golf Course in an event hosted by Lumen Christi. Lumen finished first with a team score of 156 followed by Coldwater at 161. Coldwater was led by Cam Ruge, who tied with two other golfers for the low round of 37. Alec Keplinger shot a 40, Kyle Herman and Cam Bopp each had 42’s, and Tanner Bowers and Austin Butler each had 48’s.
Coldwater will be participating in the I – 8 Championship Thursday at the Bedford Valley Golf Course.
—MIDDLE SCHOOL TENNIS—
The Legg Middle School tennis team fell to Sturgis 7-1 at the dedication of the new Heritage Park courts. Julia Radcliffe and Ryan Sturgeon were the doubles winners. Getting their initial exhibition match wins were Kimberly Galvan, Hailey Dirschell, Emilee McIndoe, and Alexis Knapp.
