COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Township officials say that while most residents are properly using the recycling bins located at the township hall on Sprague Road, there are a few who are abusing the privilege, and those people could put the township’s recycling program in jeopardy.
The township put a picture on their Facebook page this week which showed several non-recycleable items such as a refrigerator door, a plastic toy bath tub, black garbage bags, plastic tarps, wood, styrofoam and buckets dumped into the bins.
It was pointed out in the post that there are signs posted on every bin to let the public know what is recyclable. Boxes also need to be broken down.
When non-recyclable items are found in the recycling bins, the whole bin has to go into the landfill.
