PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school tennis, Coldwater competed in the Division 2 Portage Northern Regional on Friday and finished with five points. Complete point totals and results were unavailable.
The top finish for Coldwater came at number three doubles as Gabby Boston and Loveleen Lalia got all the way to the semifinals before they lost to the top-seeded team from St. Joseph. Coldwater also got points from three other flights.
Winning opening round matches were Emma Grife and Merlyn Johnson in snigles along with the doubles team of Makaela Daoud and Faith Herendeen.
In girls softball, Bronson lost a rain shortened game at Watervaliet 7-2 as their record dropped to 19-12. Kiera Lasky had a double and a home for the Vikings.
In high school soccer, Coldwater went on the road and lost to state ranked Gull Lake Friday night 7-0. Gull Lake is ranked fifth in Division Two. The Lady Cardinals were down 5-0 at the half, but didn’t allow the final two goals until 10 minutes left in the game.
Audrey Hall made 16 saves in goal, as Coldwater fell to 3-9-3 on the season. They will open up Interstate 8 Conference Silver Division tournament play Monday at Hastings.
The Coldwater JV team fell at Gull Lake 8-1. They will also play at Hastings Monday.
