COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council took care of amendments for the fiscal year 2016-2017 budget and scheduled a public hearing for June 12, 2017 for the next fiscal year budget Monday night.
The second budget amendments for the 16-17 budget reduced the deficit by $66,000 to just over $911,000.
The amendments increased revenues by $88,000 and expenditures by $21,000.
Meanwhile, the proposed budget for fiscal year 2017-2018 shows an estimated deficit of $99,800 which will be the second straight year the city will have a budget deficit. Mayor Tom Kramer said both deficits were planned and expected.
Total general fund revenues for 2017-2018 come in at just over $10.1 million
City Manager Keith Baker said in his memo to the City Council that if further reductions are necessary, a list of items that could be eliminated to reach a proposed balance budget have been identified that would not be purchased or pursued.
