BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Both of the Coldwater track teams finished first at the Interstate 8 meet hosted by Harper Creek on Tuesday. The boys won the conference championship outright while the girls ended up tying for second in the final standings.
The boys won the conference championship outright for 2017 as they had 164 points followed by Harper Creek with 160 and Parma Western with 66.
The girls won the meet with 108 points followed by Harper Creek with 104 and Marshall with 103. The Coldwater girls ended up tying for second in the final conference standings.
Coldwater winners in the boys meet were Shuaib Aljabaly in the 1600 and the 3200, Zack Murphy in the 800, Adam Bailey in the 300 hurdles, Connor Covert in the shot put and discus along with Jaden Coney in the long jump. Aljabaly, Jordan Parkinson, Ben Fagen and Murphy teamed to win the 3200 relay. Just like last Friday at the regionals, Coldwater dominated the shot put as they took first through sixth place.
Coldwater winners in the girls meet were Jasmine Wellet in both of the hurdle races, Kaci White in the discus and Claire Sheppard in the long jump. Allison Butler, Wellet, Madison Klotz and Sheppard teamed up to win the 400 relay.
