COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- Civil War Days will be held once again this weekend in Heritage Park.
This will be the 11th year for the event and organizer Bill Smith says an Education Day for invited schools will take place Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Friday’s activities include a late afternoon train ride from Coldwater to Quincy on the Little River Railroad.
The highlight of the weekend will be the reenactment of the Battle of Cheat Mountain which took place in September of 1861. Battles are scheduled to take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The 2016 Civil War Days in Coldwater was considered a big success with nearly 200 reenactors on hand. There were 2,000 spectators on Saturday and another 1,000 on Sunday.
One event that will not be held this year is the Nightfire because as Smith put it before the Coldwater City Council last year, “it was making a ruckus”.
