COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The new splash park at the site of the former Heritage Park swimming pool officially opened on Friday much to the delight of a large contingent of screaming happy children.
After a ribbon cutting, three youngsters were randomly selected to hit the buttons which started the water flowing.
Carpenter/Vortex of Florida constructed the splash park after they submitted a winning bid of just over $311,000.
The splash park was partially being funded by a $100,000 grant from the Michigan D.N.R. and $75,000 donations from the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Club and the Coldwater Noon Rotary Club.
The City of Coldwater’s Heritage Park pool was shut down and demolished after 41 years of operation following the opening of the Dr. Robert W. Browne Aquatic Center.
