THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – The body of a Saline woman was recovered Sunday by St. Joseph County divers after she drowned in Clear Lake just west of Three Rivers.
The woman has been identified as 24-year-old Alison Kunz of Saline.
St. Joseph County authorities say she was with a group of people on board a pontoon boat.
Deputies say she fell or jumped from the boat for a swim, and those on board did not realize she was missing until about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Divers were deployed and a helicopter made a search but the murky water and heavily overgrown vegetation hampered the search. The body was found in about 15 feet of water shortly after a side-scan sonar device was brought in.
St. Joseph County investigators are calling it an accidental drowning but a post mortem will be conducted.
