BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – At the end of a nearly six hour meeting, the Bronson School Board selected Tecumseh Middle School principal Richard Hilderly as the district’s next Superintendent Tuesday night.
Hilderly’s selection was approved on a 6-1 vote with Dennis Sikorski casting the only no vote.
Hilderly along with Patrick Weckel from Brandywine and Bob Cassiday from Fremont, Michigan were the three finalists who were interviewed by the board.
The interviews started at 5:30 p.m. and a decision on Hilderly was not made until about 11:30 p.m.
Board President Deb Balowski said it was a difficult decision involving three quality candidates. She hopes the board can begin contract negotiations with Hilderly later this week.
Hilderly would take over for Teresa Belote who is leaving Bronson to become the new Superintendent of the St. Joseph County Intermediate School District. There were over 30 applications for the job.
Hilderly was a finalist in March to become the superintendent of the Mackinaw Island K-12 school.
