UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – For the first time in four months, traffic is going over the North Broadway Street bridge in Union City.
A large crowd turned out Tuesday afternoon for a ribbon cutting ceremony which officially opened the new North Broadway Street bridge. The bridge opened three days ahead of the previously planned date.
Police Chief and Village Manager Chris Mathis thanked everybody involved with the project.
Jeff Wingard won a raffle to determine who would drive across the new bridge first.
The new $1.5 million bridge is being made possible by a state grant with a local match of five percent. It’s the fourth structure to be built on the span.
