COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater Township man has been charged in Branch County District Court after a confrontation with Coldwater Police officers and firefighters Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Old Mill Race Apartments on the city’s west side.
27-year old Allen Worley was arraigned yesterday on 3 counts of resisting and obstructing and OWI operating while impaired.
Coldwater Fire Department first responders were dispatched around 2:00 p.m. Sunday when Worley was reported to be passed out in a parked car. Coldwater City Police and the Michigan State Police were called when the suspect was revived and got angry with the firefighters.
City Police used a taser and pepper spray and the wind blew the pepper spray back into Officer Lou Eastmead’s face and his eyes had to be cleared at the scene with a saline solution.
Worley is being held on $35,000 bond with a District Court probable cause hearing scheduled for July 6 and a preliminary exam set for July 12, 2017.
