COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker thanked some volunteers during Monday night’s City Council meeting who recently fixed up the Heritage Park skateboard park. Xeno Skate Company and friends raised $1,500 towards the cost of the project. About 20 volunteers recently made some minor repairs and painted the skate park.
Meanwhile, Baker said there has been a positive response from the community after vandalism was reported in the public restrooms at the new Rotary Splash Pad. None of the damage was permanent and he asked citizens to keep an eye out to make sure this does not happen again.
Baker also reported work has been completed on the Grand Street sanitary sewer and it has been connected to Marshall Street. The contractor is now working on the water main and another detour on Marshall will be neccessary in the near future.
The Council approved a resolution to vacant the north end of Bennett Street next to the old Midwest Foundry property where construction is taking place on a solar far.
A request for a $98,500 loan from the Community Block Grant Revolving Loan Fund Program for the expansion of the kitchen at the Tasty Twist on Marshall Street was also approved. It’s hoped the 120 square foot expansion will help create three new jobs. The total cost of the project is just under $150,000.
