COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Branch County stolen pickup truck arson case from late last year has brought the arrest of a suspect from Steuben County, Indiana.
33-year old Seth Danning of Hudson was extradited from the County Jail in Angola and booked into the Branch County Jail Saturday. Danning allegedly stole a 2001 F-250 Ford pickup from a barn on Hamman Road in California Township December 28, 2016.
Michigan State Police say they were called nearly a week later on January 3, 2017 to check out a report of a pickup on fire in Noble Township. When they reached the scene along Whipple Road near Barry Road, troopers found the truck still burning. Evidence eventually led investigators to suspect Danning was involved and learned he was on parole living at a halfway house in Angola.
Danning was arraigned yesterday in Branch County District Court on charges of vehicle theft and fourth degree arson. Danning is being held on $100,000 bond with a probable cause hearing set for July 6 with his preliminary exam scheduled for July 11, 2017.
Michigan State Police say a second suspect in the case is jailed in Steuben County on unrelated multiple charges.
