MOTTVILLE, MI (WTVB) – Bronson firefighters had to be called in Tuesday morning to help battle a large fire at the Green Stream mulch producing facility near Mottville in southwest St. Joseph County.
They were dispatched at around 4:00am to provide mutual aid to the White Pigeon Fire Department.
A Bronson tanker shuttled over 35,000 gallons of water and Bronson crews manned portable monitors on the fire line for an eight hour shift at the remote location on M-103 near U.S. 12.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The blaze put up a plume on Monday that could be seen for miles, as acres of recyclable materials went up in flames and smoke.
Fire crews from over a dozen departments in southern Michigan and northern Indiana have been not only fighting the flames over the last couple of days, but dry conditions and high winds as well. There were no reports of any injuries, but the operation is destroyed.
