COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A suspect in a reported on-going Branch County stalking case was arrested yesterday in Coldwater.
61 year old Mark Yearling of Montgomery was taken into custody by Michigan State Police following a traffic stop Wednesday morning at US 12 and Western Avenue. He was named on a warrant submitted to the Prosecutor’s office in late March after the Coldwater Township woman who made the accusations against Yearling told the State Police about the alleged crime February 8, 2017.
The woman said Yearling had been sending letters to her for years and she attempted on several occasions to have him stop the mailings, but decided she had had enough of it when another letter arrived the day before she called police.
Michigan State Police said Yearling lied yesterday to the trooper who made the arrest, denying any knowledge of the letters being received by the alleged victim.
Yearling was booked on charges of misdemeanor stalking and obstructing a criminal investigation. He was released after posting ten percent of a $5,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment in District Court July 24, 2017.
