COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of two women charged in connection with the illegal use of Adderal entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
42-year-old Doctor Christina Whitaker entered guilty pleas to two counts of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud. Both counts have a maximum sentence of four years.
She also has surrendered her medical license to the State of Michigan and it has been permanently revoked.
In exchange for the guilty pleas, prosecutors will drop 14 other counts against her. Whitaker is scheduled to be sentenced August 14, 2017.
41-year-old Gretchen Alldredge entered a guilty plea last month to an amended charge of possession of an analog after prosecutors initially filed 18 counts against her. In exchange for her plea, all other charges were dropped.
Alldredge agreed to offer testimony on Whitaker’s involvement if the Whitaker case had gone to trial. Alldredge is scheduled to be sentenced July 31, 2017.
Prosecutors filed a total of five cases against both women. They were arrested following a Coldwater Police Department investigation into illegal activity between last August and October involving Adderal, which is an attention deficit disorder drug.
Whitaker is accused of writing prescriptions for the drug to Alldredge. Authorities allege that Alldredge in turn tried to buy the Adderall for Whitaker.
