SHERWOOD, MI (WTVB) – A house in Branch County’s Sherwood Township has been damaged by fire that was sparked by an overnight lightning strike.
Branch County 911 Central Dispatch took the call on the blaze from the homeowner, who said everyone was able to get out of the home right after the fire first started around 3:45 a.m.Wednesday. The house is located at 1250 Factoryville road west of Ralston Road.
Sherwood firemen on their way to the scene said they could see flames from several miles away. The Union City Fire Department was dispatched for mutual aid.
Life Care Ambulance and Michigan State Police also assisted as did the Branch County Victim Services Unit.
Fire crews were on the job until 5:30 a.m.
