UNDATED (WTVB) – The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for portions of south central Michigan and southwest Michigan, including Calhoun, Eaton, Jackson, Allegan, Barry, Kalamazoo and Van Buren Counties through Wednesday afternoon.
Several rounds of thunderstorms are forecasted through midday. Rainfall rates will top two inches per hour in the strongest storms. Local storm total rainfall amounts could exceed five inches which would be enough to trigger flooding.
Rainfall over the past week over this area has ranged from around an inch to two inches in most areas. The ground is already saturated in some areas.
Urban and poor drainage flooding could occur. Flooding of small streams and creeks will be possible where the thunderstorms repeat over the same area.
