COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two Branch County Marine Patrol officers and a conservation officer from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources were honored Saturday with the Branch County Sheriff’s Department Lifesaving Award for their efforts at Marble Lake last summer.
On July 31, 2016, Sgt Josh Vickers and Deputy Shane Norton, along with officer Isaac Tyson, were called to the annual Corn Roast at Corn Island at Marble Lake for an unresponsive man in the water. Once he was located and loaded into their Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol boat, the man became unresponsive and had to be revived.
Sheriff John Pollack said at a special ceremony Saturday that it was the effort of the three that prevented the man from dying.
