COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools Superintendent Terry Boguth told the district’s Board of Education Monday night that NRP Properties has terminated their agreement with the school district for the purchase of the former Fremont School Building.
The school board approved the purchase agreement with the Cleveland area developers last March with a provision that NRP could pull out of the agreement within 420 days if they felt things were not moving forward.
NRP and the district entered into an agreement last October for the purchase of the closed building and over nine acres of land at 95 South Fremont at a price of $425,000.
NRP wanted to put in a 70 unit housing development on the site but the plans and a rezoning request sparked a heated controversy.
The proposed housing development was shelved after a rezoning public hearing that was scheduled for a Coldwater City Council meeting in late March was tabled at the request of NRP.
