COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Police say two 14-year old girls were sexually assaulted early Thursday at Waterworks Park, where the 18-year old male suspect was arrested and the alleged victims were located by officers.
Police say the suspect, Anthony Nunnally of Coldwater, and the girls each later admitted to their involvement in the incident, which allegedly had Nunnally supplying vodka to the victims before they were assaulted.
Sgt. Dave Crilly says the girls had been spending the night at the home of one of the girls’ great grandmother, who contacted police shortly after midnight early Thursday morning to report she discovered a bedroom window open and the two girls were gone. Crilly and two other officers located Nunnally and the girls around 1:15 a.m. walking near Lincoln Elementary just west of the park.
According to Crilly, the alleged victims, who were clearly intoxicated, were checked out at the Community Health Center of Branch County by CHC’s sexual assault nurse examiner, and then released to the custody of their parents.
Nunnally was arraigned yesterday in district court on nine charges including third degree and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct, contributing to the delinquency of minors and furnishing alcohol to minors. His bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.
Nunnally is due back in court for a probable cause hearing on August 8th with his preliminary exam scheduled for August 15, 2017.
