COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Community Health Center of Branch County Board of Directors Chair Mike Iveson told the board on Monday night that a committee is recommending a 15 member hospital board once ProMedica takes over.
It would be known as the ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital Board. He said it would have no more than 16 members and unlike the current board, it will not meet every month. The meetings would still be held in Coldwater and ProMedica would have up to three board members. It’s felt the larger board would be more diverse. No formal action was taken by the CHC board on Monday.
Community Health Center of Branch County Board Member Neal Dantes wants to make it clear as ProMedica gets ready to take over the hospital, donations for the CHC Foundation will stay here and not go to Toledo where ProMedica is headquartered.
He tried to clear up some misconceptions during Monday’s hospital board meeting.
He added all CHC Foundation board members will stay in place and the Foundation will not be operated out of Toledo. Dantes also said the merger will not change the mission of the CHC Foundation.
In other business, Hospital President and CEO Randy DeGroot said in his report that after no one showed interest in moving what’s known as the Barnes House at 310 East Chicago, the hospital has pulled a permit to demolish it. A salvage company has removed anything of value. A demolition date has not been scheduled yet.
