KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man died Tuesday at Borgess Medical Center after a July 22 traffic accident at River and Union City Roads in Branch County’s Girard Township.
23-year-old Zack Alldredge suffered head and numerous other injuries in the crash.
Alldredge was removed from life support systems and his organs will be donated.
He and his fiancé recently became parents of a baby girl and had just bought a house.
Michigan State Police say a 16-year old girl who was traveling south on River Road failed to obey the stop sign at the intersection with Union City Road after being distracted by the use of her navigation device and collided with an east bound car driven by Alldredge. Both vehicles ran off the road with the car headed east rolling over, ejecting Alldredge, who State Police say wasn’t wearing his safety belt.
The 16-year old was treated and released from the Community Health Center of Branch County while a passenger in the vehicle suffered a broken leg and was later transferred from CHC to Kalamazoo for additional treatment.
State Police say a nurse from Portage stopped at the accident scene to provide aide. Also assisting at the crash site were the Coldwater Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance.
