SPRINGPORT, MI (WTVB) – The death of a horse in the Springport area is being blamed on the West Nile Virus.
The Jackson County Health Department says the 31-year-old horse had been vaccinated for the virus, but its age may have prevented an immune response.
The horse was put down after it became ill.
Health officials in Jackson County say there have not been any human cases of West Nile in their county this year.
