COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners were told in an annual report from the County Clerk’s office Tuesday that the number of criminal cases filed in Circuit Court dropped last year.

Civil cases that were filed with personal protection orders essentially stayed the same.
Norris also said there were also 230 more Concealed Pistol License applications for concealed weapons last year than in 2015.
In other business during a brief and routine meeting:
* Commissioners approved a request from Branch County Central Dispatch for the purchase of three new consoles. The original quote was $395,000, but due to the length of time that has passed since the quote was received, the purchase could cost as much as $429,000.
* Commissioners also approved the bid from Foulke Construction Company, which is not to exceed $25,000, to fix the underground duct at the Burnside Center.
