COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was certainly a sneak preview of autumn Thursday in Branch County, even though there is officially one more month of summer left.
After the mercury dropped into the upper 40’s before sunrise, the temperature at the Branch County Memorial Airport struggled to get out of the 50’s all morning long under mostly cloudy skies.
Even at midday it was only 61 degrees, a far cry from the average high for August 24 of 78 degrees.
The chill took place just three days after it got into the upper 80’s.
Forecasters say the sunshine will return Friday and Saturday, but don’t expect any steamy weather as we head towards the end of August. Highs are expected to be in the mid to upper 70s through next Thursday.
