COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schoolsofficials say the old Fremont School building is not for sale right now, after NRP Properties terminated their agreement with the school district for the purchase of the property last month.
Fourth ward residents want to buy the property and turn it into a park. Dan Corwin said they found out last week from Superintendent Terry Boguth that the property was not for sale but the school has gotten several inquiries.
Board Vice-President Nick Krzeminski tried to explain to Corwin that as a board they have not talked about the property after NRP pulled out.
NRP and the district entered into an agreement last October for the purchase of the closed building and over nine acres of land at 95 South Fremont at a price of $425,000.
NRP wanted to put in a 70 unit housing development on the site but the plans and a rezoning request sparked a heated controversy and eventually the Cleveland-based developers threw in the towel.
