COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man entered guilty pleas to a pair of drug charges Tuesday, just moments before a scheduled three day jury trial was supposed to have started in Branch County Circuit Court.
58-year-old Lawrence Michael Hale admitted his guilt to possession of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine as a fourth time offender. Sentencing is scheduled for October 30, 2017.
Hale was facing six felony drug charges after he was one of two suspects taken into custody on January 31st when a search warrant was executed by Coldwater Police in the 200 block of West Chicago as part of an investigation into alleged illegal drug activity.
Hale rejected a previous plea bargain agreement with prosecutors.
Potential jurors were waiting on the second floor of the Branch County Courthouse when Hale entered his plea in Circuit Court.
