COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Out with the old and in with the new. With the Coldwater Fire Department taking delivery of a new $1.2 million ladder truck and a new $500,000 pumper truck this summer, it was time to say goodbye Wednesday to the 1992 American LaFrance ladder truck.
The truck was hauled off to Central Westmoreland Community Technical College in New Stanton, Pennsylvania.
The college submitted a $10,000 bid for the vehicle, and they plan to use it to train students.
Coldwater Fire Chief Rich Sherman recently said the new equipment will allow the fire department to keep up with the growth in the community with the ladder truck having the length to reach the higher levels of current and future apartments, homes, and industrial buildings.
