PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – Bronson defeated Niles 2-0 (25-19, 25-18) in the finals of the Portage Northern girls volleyball invitational on Saturday. After going 3-1 in pool play, Bronson defeated Unity Christian and Coldwater to advance to the finals. Keona Salesman had 58 kills and 55 digs, Kiana Mayer recorded 157 assists while Ashton Wronikowski had 39 kills.
The Coldwater freshman squad finished second in their invitational meet on Saturday. Meg Smith had 21 aces, four digs, Amber Sunderland recorded 15 aces, 10 digs and five kills, Jenna Julian had 16 kills, seven blocks, ten aces and three digs while Carly Gebbink had 11 aces. The Coldwater freshman record is 19-4-2.
The Legg Middle School 7th grade girls volleyball A team won the Silver Bracket at the Marshall Invitational Saturday. After going 0-2 in pool play, the Cardinals defeated Quincy and Concord to win the bracket and improve their record to 2-4. Madison Earle recorded 14 aces.
