COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In boys tennis, Coldwater improved to 3-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference with an 8-0 win over Jackson Northwest.
The Cardinals travel to Allegan Saturday for an eight team invitational. Coldwater has conference matches next week at home against Lumen Christi and at Harper Creek.

Girls Golf—
Coldwater’s varsity golf team participated in a unique match play event at the Island Hills Golf Course on Wednesday and came away in the first match of the day defeating Harper Creek five wins to one loss. In the 2nd match of the day Coldwater retained the Sauk Trail Trophy by defeating Sturgis winning 3 matches, splitting 2 matches, and losing 2 matches.
Winning in the Harper Creek match for Coldwater were Claire Sheppard, Jayla Goodwin, Hunter Jenkot, Molly Smith and Micki Slack. In the Sturgis match, Goodwin, Kelly Warner and Micki Slack won with Jenkot and Smith splitting their matches.
Coldwater will be traveling to Binder Park Thursday for the last Interstate 8 Conference jamboree of the season.
In a JV match hosted by Coldwater, Marshall won the event with a team score of 204 followed by Coldwater at 207, Lakeview at 218, Hastings at 225 and Coldwater B with a 239.
Coldwater was led by Alexis Musselman with a 50, Diona Kashian and Ryleigh Collins each had 52’s, Morgan Beckhusen carded a 53, and Abby Coffing rounded out Coldwater’s scoring with a 58. Coldwater’s B team was led by Mackenzie Koch with a 49, Avery Volkmer had a 59, Melissa Vozar had a 65 and Bree Barrows rounded out the scoring with a 66.
Coldwater’s JV team will be traveling to Portage Northern for a jamboree Thursday as well.
Middle School Football—
The Legg Middle School 7th grade Cardinals lost 33-28 to Marshall. Chase Sunderland passed for 3 touchdowns, a 59 yarder to Hunter Munson, and 56 and 47 yarders to Cameron Torres. Elijah Sloan scored a TD on a 3 yard run and Kevin Hall added a 2 point conversion to close out the scoring for Coldwater.
The 8th grade squad erupted for 22 points in the first quarter on their way to a 46-19 victory over Marshall. Cole Barker opened the scoring with a 63 yard run and followed later with a 6 yard touchdown. Gauge Rodgers added two scores from 61 yards and seven yards, Garret Thorne added a six yard TD, Gavin Budd caught a 51 yard pass from Aiden Marsden to end the first half. The only score of the second half was a seven yard touchdown by Marsden and a two point conversion by Lukas Kelley.
Both teams play next Wednesday at Battle Creek Lakeview, the seventh grade game starts at 4:30.
