COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There was a garage fire Thursday afternoon in Branch County’s Ovid Township near Coldwater Lake. The blaze was reported around 1:15 p.m. in the structure on Stock Drive off Roberta Lane at Miller Road east of Iyopawa Island.
The Lakeland Fire Department received mutual aid from the Fremont, Indiana Fire Department. According to Central Dispatch, Lakeland Fire Chief Paul Searing requested the Branch County Sheriff’s Department Victims Services Unit to respond to the location. No injuries were reported.
According to a post on the Victim Services Unit Facebook page, firefighters were able to save much of the family’s personal items, most of the home and prevent the fire from moving to nearby homes.
Life Care Ambulance was on standby at the scene. Firefighters were on the job for about 2-and-a-half hours.
