COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater improved its record to 12-2 on the season with their sixth straight shutout, beating Jackson Northwest 7-0 on Thursday night. After the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead after 10 minutes, the game was delayed over one hour due to lightening. After the game resumed, Coldwater scored three more goals in the first half, and three more in the second.
Jonathan Brownell had four goals and one assist, while Shaif Ahmed had one goal and one assist. Also scoring were Mohamed Salem and Bakeel Abdullah.
Tyler Kooi had two assists, with one each for Erik Corona and Shihab Abdulrab. Balal Nasser made one save in goal, as Coldwater outshot Northwest 21-2.
The Cardinals are now 3-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference. They’ll play at non-conference Battle Creek Lakeview Monday.
The Coldwater JV team also beat Jackson Northwest, winning 8-0 on the mercy rule. Freshman Angel Rodriquez had 4 goals, with 2 goals by sophomore Koby Stewart. Mohamed Aljabaly and Danny Aburto added a goal each to cap the scoring.
Hanover-Horton 5, Quincy 1
Quincy’s lone goal was by Alex Aseltine. The Orioles face Hillsdale Academy on Monday, and are home against Jonesville on Thursday.
Girls Golf—
Thunderstorms forced a cancellation of the Interstate 8 Jamboree that was to be hosted by Harper Creek on Thursday. No makeup date has been announced.
